Preparing to film some mooreee!

As we have changed our storyline, yet AGAIN, we have decided to cut the fact that our main guy is walking to work and then visiting his wife's grave, and have him walking to the grave right away instead.
SMART right??
buutttt, we have a problemooo, where are we going to find a nice looking graveyard that we would be able to film in??
Well, after doing some ammaazing research in Mondays lesson, we found a few decent looking graveyards, one of which was 'New Southgate' cemetery and crematorium.

When we rung them up and got referred to the manager, she asked us to write her an e-mail containing the details of our wonderful plan, so that's exactly what we did...

So after emailing her... we quickly ran to book cameras for the weekend... then, the rest of our group kindly reminded me that we had already done  that =\ WHoopS!

Filming (Day 2)

Last week we filmed in a hotel and after reviewing the footage I think it went pretty well. Unfortunately the footage was a bit orange but we couldn't do anything about it on the set. Today we went back in front of the hotel to film me waking out of the hotel and going into one of the near by streets. We choose a street with little traffic so that it would be easier to edit without continuity errors. However the road just outside of the hotel is very busy so it was difficult to get a good shot without too many people in the shot or too many cars obstructing the view of the camera. We filmed Goz (our main characters ghost wife) following me throughout the video however as we looked at the footage in school we realised that it was a stupid thing to do because she looks like any other member of the public.
This means that there is a change of plans. We will not make the ghost follow me but I will meet the ghost at a graveyard. This also means that we will not film at the millenium bridge but instead I will be heading to a grave yard. Another reason for not filming at the millenium bridge is the amount of people around us, it would be impossible to create a ghost effect if every second the scene looks different because of people moving. It will be easier to create a ghost effect at a cemetery because there is a little chance that someone will move (hehe)

Totally FILMING

Well, it seems we have come to a point in our lives where our hard work and effort and planning is finally being put to use. Now, lets just hope this goes well!
Our first day of filming was the Wednesday 2nd of March, and it definitely was one of the most nerve racking moments of my life. For some reason, our group had a nervous sense of confidence as we strolled into our pre-booked set. The Hotel.
As you can see in the pictures that we have, it was quite a swanky looking place, so of course we all put our professional, polite faces on as we walked through the sliding doors. The first thing we done was to watch Konrad get changed... LOL. Definitely not as creepy as it sounds....
So, after Konrad (our leading man) gets into character, we decide what shots we are going to film. We decided to follow our animatic storyboard, and open with the shot of our guy coming out the lift. After doing a few shots and nearly falling over a plant pot - Yes, we definitely should have added 'filming while walking backwards' to the risk assessment.
Thankfully my nearly fall wouldn't have been as bad as this guys....

So, after finishing slightly ahead of schedule, we decided to set off to our next location....Millenium bridge!
As we weren't really sure about how we would put our theory to plan in this huuuugee location, we decided to got and plan what we would be doing in the environment. So, in the freezing cold, we decided to make Konrad walk up and down, filming him!  Ahh the joys of media studies!

After getting a basic idea of our plan for the next few weeks, we decided to head back to college and watch our amazing footage!
Partly due to the fact that we were all almost definitely about to suffer from frostbite or pneumonia...

But! All is well, and we shall obviously keep you updated on our filming antics!

Filming (Day1)

Today was our first day filming (finally). We planned to go film in a Jury's Inn Hotel and near St.Pauls Cathedral. Before the half term we went to Jury's Inn and we asked if we could film inside of the hotel they said yes. Today we had to ask again because the person that we asked last time wasn't in. We had no problems with getting the permission again.

Since I'm playing a bussinesmen I brought my suit and we used my school bag as a briefcase. We started by filming me getting out of an elevator and getting outside. That was all that we did in the hotel. It took us an hour. Unfortunately we couldn't control the lighting so all the shots look orange and the lighting is dark in some areas and really bright in others. I will try to use Colors to make the footage less orange (by adding blue) and I could also manipulate the brightness and contrast a little bit.

I really like the footage from our second location, St Pauls Cathedral. The long shot of me walking up the stairs with the rest of the public reminds me of action movies set in big cities. Eventhough there are people around me we can clearly see that I'm the one the audience should be looking at.

Before We Film...

Sooo, tomorrow is indeed our first day of filming!
We will begin to film our first scene, that's inside the hotel. As we have prior consent, we are able to start filming as soon as we arrive to our 'set.' =D
For our amazing Mise En Scene, we are trusting Konrad to bring a smart suit and briefcase, as he will be the one wearing it, it would make sense if he brings his own... it would also give him a sense of familiarity to him character.
The hotel staff had told us that Wednesday mornings can usually be quite a busy time in the hotel lobby (where we are planning to film), this could be a problem as it would make it hard for us to have perfect continuity, however it would create a great sense of the busy life that our main character leads...
So costumes, props, and setting at the ready, all we need now is to put it all to action!!
 wish us luuckkk....
please?
